Installation of flow-measuring equipment at the offtakes to the Pela and Madrigalejo canals in Sectors VII and XII of Canal de las Dehesas

Ministerio Medio Ambiente, Medio Rural y Marino (Confederación Hidrográfica del Guadiana)

Areas of Activity: Hydraulic Infrastructures

Sectors of Operation: Irrigation Systems

Adasa carried out a project for the installation of flow meters for measuring and monitoring water consumption for irrigation in the secondary Pela and Madrigalejo canals and in irrigation sectors VII and XII.

The canal supplies water to irrigate some 12,000 ha of the Vegas Altas del río Guadiana area, in central Extremadura, via secondary canals and irrigation sectors.

In order to reliably monitor the instantaneous flows and volumes discharged in the various irrigation sectors and canals making up the canal infrastructure, Adasa installed flow meters at the starting points of each one, powered by photovoltaic panels and energy accumulators, and fitted the piping, wiring, converter units and other accessories required to ensure the appropriate operation and protection of the main equipment.
